Fire Suppression
Woodside Fire Protection District (WFPD) maintains a daily staffing level of 15 personnel. The District's suppression personnel are divided into three platoons, A, B, C. Each platoon is commanded by a Battalion Chief who is responsible for 3 stations. These crews perform fire suppression operations, medical/rescue services, and other hazard mitigation activities, which allow WFPD personnel to carry out the primary mission of protecting the lives and properties of citizens. The division also responds to non-emergency calls for service to assist citizens when there is no one else available to provide assistance. These calls include pumping flooded basements, securing downed wires, seeking out the source of potentially dangerous odors or other similarly related calls for service.
All our fire suppression personnel are certified to the California State Firefighter II level and are actively involved in the California Incident Command Certification Program. They are consistently trained throughout their employment to ensure all skills are maintained at the highest level possible. In addition, many of our fire suppression personnel maintain Paramedic certification allowing them to perform advanced life support (the ability to monitor the heart, establish intravenous lines and administer medications/drugs in a pre-hospital setting), on non-transport paramedic engine companies. At Woodside Fire Protection District, we pride ourselves on providing the latest technology and training in the fire suppression arena to our customers.
